The production of the trolleybuses type 14 Tr commenced at the Škoda factory in Ostrov nad Ohří with the so-called zero verification series in 1981, although their developmnet had begun as early as 1972. In that year, the first prototype was manufactured, followed by the second prototype two years later. Howerver, the entire "zero" struggled with a number of technical problems. Therefore, in the following year 1982, the improved '01' series was introduced, which was more often supplied to traditional foreing customers. Over the following years, various improvements were implemented within the following series. The constant demand for improvements and innovations of the outdated desing led the manufacturer to modernize it in the mid-1990s. This led to create version 14 TrM, which responeded to new trends especially in travel comfort. In the second half of the 1990s the manufacturer got a big contract for the USA. This led to the creation of variants such as the 14 TrE for Dayton and the 14TrSF for San Francisco. In fact these were completly different vehicles in terms of appearence and equipment, only structurally based on the original 14Tr.

In 2004 the production of 14 Tr, respectively 14 TrM trolleybuses was discontinued.

The Škoda 14 Tr trolleybus, registration number 429, is from the 8th series of trolleybuses with registration numbers 425 - 438, deliverd to Plisen in the fall of 1989. Vehicle 429 was put into operation on November 27, 1989. Color desing of this trollleybus was standard like its predecessors, in wine-red, cream and red color. During the operation in the transport company, it underwent three major inspections with repainting at the central workshops. The trolleybus operated in regular service until December 2006 when it was taken out of service. After decommissioning, it was stored for some time at the Škoda museum, later at the Škoda – Bus Club premises in Strašice, and then returned to the PMDP, a.s.  Since May 2016, the vehicle underwent a succesful renovation to the original condition, which was completed by handing over the vehicle ond December 16, 2016. 

The maximum capacity is 29 seated passengers and 51 standing passengers. However, for comfortable ride, we recommend a maximum of 45 passengers on board.

The trolleybus cannot be operated from November 1st to March 31st.
